Business Interruption Class Action
Klein Lawyers has filed a class action against Intact Insurance on behalf of Canadian business owners who have business interruption insurance with Intact and whose claims for business losses due to COVID-19 have been denied. Class actions are also being filed against other insurance companies.
Amid COVID-19, many business owners were forced to close their doors as a result of government-imposed shutdowns. Owners filed business interruption insurance claims to make up for the losses they experienced. However, Intact Insurance has denied these claims.
Intact Insurance argued that business interruption policies do not cover viral outbreaks. While insurance policies are complicated, Klein Lawyers alleges the Intact Insurance illegally denied coverage for business losses. Intact has been enriched at the expense of business owners.
